I feel like the differences are soooo tiny, youd only recognize them because the cats are right next to eachother. If you lost your cat, if you see an almost identical cat, you arent gonna notice one tiny dot or hair out of place.

Yes they do, but people's brains are weird, we fill in gaps that aren't there and fool each ourselves all the time. Everything you see out the corner of your eyes doesn't exist, so add emotions when you miss a pet? This can definately happen, because you want it to.
