That's a good piece, but "off of".... Aaarrrggghhhhhh

-
Thanks! Not sure what "off of" means, but I hope it wasn't too painful. lol.
-
I can't abide the use of "off of" back to back in a sentence. It's almost a criminal offence. Other than that, I enjoyed and agreed with the article. Very good. Thanks.
-
Well, crap. Now my OCD is acting up. lol. Can you point it out? I'll see if I can fix it.

I loved this article. The manner in which you broke down the arguments make it impossible to dispute (although there will be those who will try). I completely agree with your assessment that Luke’s character was done a great injustice. Thank you very much.
-
Thanks for the kind words. Already had some people disagree with my argument, but that's life I guess. LoL.
-
The fact you didn’t use vague generalities to prove your point speaks volumes. Although you would have had me at a simple “Rian Johnson couldn’t hold Scorsese’s jockstrap.” But that would have been a vague generality which has become so popular in the media today. Lol
-
Haha. Well, the funny thing is that I don't think Rian Johnson is a bad filmmaker. I thought both Brick and Looper were pretty well made, which is why I was stunned at how bad The Last Jedi ended up being. He's definitely not on the same level of Scorsese in terms of talent.

Thanks, enjoyed the piece! Found the section on "passing the torch" particularly insightful - spot on. (One quick technicality: "cannot deny wasn't divisive" should be "was" - or "argue" in place of "deny") Also thought your conclusion was strong; very well done overall. (1/)

Fixed it. Thanks!

Even if I disagree with your writings (this instance I do with some) I will always be happy to share it Matthew. I know you come at this from a purely critical and analytical standpoint and not a toxic/aggressive approach, have a lot of respect for you.
-
Same to you, Chris. I think debate is healthy, so long as it's respectful.

I’ve been working double shifts but I’ll check it out soon as I get a chance. I commented on his article on Syfy and pointed out all his lies about TLJ and attacking everyone who “ran the boycott” he deleted me and blocked it.
-
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

There can in no way, shape,or form be any comparison between Rian Johnson and Martin Scorsese no matter the political persuasion. I don’t believe it was for-thought to mirror Scorsese’s Christ... if so it was a misinformed failure
-
In Young's article, he says when he asked Rian Johnson about it, RJ denied he intentionally drew any parallels between the films. But that didn't stop Mr. Young from comparing them.
-
Right. Yet Mr. Young proceeded to lay out his own thought process which is his right, of course. The fact stated in your tweet above tempers Young’s point as you stated in your article. Both are good reads! (1)
-
I think that even if Young’s comparison was more on point I’d still argue two main arguments in response. First, comparing TLJ detractors to religious arsonists, zealots, various bad”ists” etc. is getting old. (2).
-
Finally, even if Johnson pulled off a Sorcese level of film, episode VIII of a beloved franchise was not the time to deconstruct or be subversive.
