LePage was voted in as Governor twice, after winning a primary, so when exactly was he “rejected” Jared?https://twitter.com/thisdog/status/1078758944867315712 …
Dude... Moody was the "same style" as LePage? Dude... dude...

No, Matt that was the fear, however. Definitely not the same style for Moody but he did surround himself with Team LePage, leaving many wondering what kind of regime he would lead.
-
Either way, NO ONE who watched Moody's campaign thought he was the "same style" as LePage
-
Matt, They sheltered him too much. They didn’t let him be himself and that cost them the election. He would have had a much better shot as an Indy. There was some buyers remorse among Republicans certainly or Mills would never have broke 50 percent.
-
He would have been toast as an Indy. I agree he chose the wrong strategy, but again the strategy they chose was NOTHING like LePage. It was cautious and quiet. Reserved and somewhat timid. You can't admit that and say the problem was voters rejecting "similar style" to LePage.
-
Are you blaming sweeping losses all on one county?
-
No, not at all. But she got 40k of her 45k margin out of Cumberland. She really killed it there, and it wasn't because Shawn underperformed. She just cranked up turnout, which is to her credit.
-
So? Why didn’t Republicans crank up turnout too? What was holding Republican voters back? It seems odd to me to say LePage had nothing to do with it. Do you think that’s true or accurate?
-
Why didn't Republicans crank up turnout? For one, they did. They had very impressive turnout. But this was a Democratic wave year, and Mills ran an excellent campaign. There is only so much any campaign can do to compete with explosively motivated turnout on the other side.
