    Yes! gives us enough meteorology to educate us, without being too geeky. He is not afraid to show how much he loves talking about the weather either. I'm glad we get to visit the roof top with him.

    Some cirrus and a bit of thin smoke in the upper atmosphere are making for a very colorful sunset. Not sure how I ended up with a job that pays me yammer about the thing I love to the best city in the county and enjoy sunsets with a view like this (look at the Blue Ridge!)

    FOX made a big investment in the D.C. market, and state and local government made a big investment in helping FOX5 to call Bethesda home.

    Back in 2018, I helped break ground on the site of Fox 5's new home. Today, I was proud to officially welcome them to Maryland, and to visit the new state-of-the-art Fox 5 headquarters in Bethesda.

    Hurricane is moving over much cooler waters, but it's holding its own quite well. Extratropical transition isn't complete, so it's still retaining tropical characteristics. It'll lash the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland tonight with gusts to 85 mph.

    There has also been a dramatic uptick in 's vulnerability to very heavy downpours, especially in the warm season. Every increase of 1ºF means the air can hold 4% more water. That contributes to more top-100 rain events. Very heavy rainfall days are becoming more common.

    Houston – we have a problem. There is an increasing risk that parts of the Texas and Louisiana Gulf coastline, including , could see significant rains of 2-4 inches and perhaps topping 6 inches next week. It's with the system now near Honduras.

    Check out this swath of wind that will blast through the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland tonight. Gusts of 90 mph are possible. Larry will still be partially tropical, and most of the wind will be east of the center.
