    I've been seeing a bunch of surprised / curious / interested responses to 's very kind tweet from earlier today, so I decided to write up some thoughts: 🧵

    The Mac app is the ultimate evidence you can provide a fast, smooth, and native-like experience on macOS using web technologies. It does require to care about user experience and performance (e.g. they use a thin custom wrapper instead of Electron) but it's doable.

    Part of what makes people feel uncomfortable is too much/too good of tracking. Like when a someone thinks they might want to buy something and then they see an ad for it a couple hours later (even if it is just coincidence or they took some other action online.

    People want websites to stop tracking them, because they hate ads But the reason they hate ads is because they’re irrelevant And the key to making them more relevant is better tracking
