    Absolutely this. The solidarity messages from some are hideous virtue-signalling - which is ironic, considering that's the practice they can never wait to denounce

    If you routinely tell your readers/listeners/viewers that the BBC 'hates' Britain then you incite precisely the sort of behaviour inflicted on , one of the very best journalists I have ever had the privilege of working with. And you can stick your bogus 'solidarity'.

    Without good journalism - good journalists - we are screwed. They must be free to work unhindered. We must be ready to hear what they report whether we like it or not. If you think you only want to hear opinions you agree with - READ SOME HISTORY.

    The safety of journalists is fundamental to any democracy - they must be able to report unhindered, free from abuse. There is absolutely no justification for any journalist to be treated in this way.

    Wind ‘em up. Feed their paranoid conspiracy theories. Tell them they are being silenced. Set up some clear targets, write and share attack pieces. Then when they start screaming these things at innocent people in the street, don’t forget to act all shocked and appalled.
