His voice strained and cracked as he pled with her to utter even just a single word about the impeachment meeting she had just left. But as the congresswoman fled – surrounded by a phalanx of 4 staffers who can and did talk with ease – she was silent.

And she heard and felt every inch of the pain she caused Jamie. A partial transcript of the mayhem is below.

“Excuse me sir,” a young male staffer said to a small group of us reporters (who weren’t in anyone’s way in a public hall in the basement of the Capitol). “Excuse us,” a resolute female staffer kept saying. “Excuse us.”

“My name is @jamiedupree,” the senior congressional reporter was finally able to muster through a strained whisper. “What did you think?”

“We’re on a way to an event right now, so we’d love to chat at another time,” the young dude chimed in. “Is there a reason you don’t want to talk about it ma’am?” I ask.

“I’m just saying we’re on our way to an event,” the young man said, answering for his female boss, @RepLucyMcBath, who was right there surrounded by her federally paid 'blockers' (not saying a word to them - just running from her job). “That’s exactly what we’re trying to do.”

“Do you like…impeachment?” Jamie asked, through a perpetually quivering and unsteady voice. “Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Why not? Is it something that you worry about? Then why would you have no comment on impeachment?”

“Thank you ma’am,” I yelled as @RepLucyMcBath ran away. “That woman is useless,” a female reporter uttered. The congresswoman came back to the meeting in less than 20 minutes and no one tried to talk to her. I know I won’t ever again.
