Joe Biden should commit to forgiving all student debt in his first term. $1.6 trillion dollars in student loan debt is reckless & unsustainable. It'll prevent millions of mostly young Americans from reaching financial independence, and funnels wealth rapidly to the top 1%.

It would be a massive economic stimulus and free much of a generation from a lifetime of debt. Debt also leads people who don't work to make huge profits off people who do. Some people work their whole lives to pay off debt that they accrued because they pursued education.

Some means testing makes some sense. But it should be available for most people.

It's really going to suck being the holder of $200k in student loan debt that will be unforgivable as I (smartly at the time) consolidated for a lower interest rate. That said, this would do a lot more to stimulate the economy than another tax break for the 1%. Prolly a good idea

Yeah kind of like paying off mortgages for people that have actually been contributing to society for decades rather than some kid taking on unreasonable debt they never planned on repaying
