The brutal consequences of Lyft and Ubers business model were made clear during this pandemic—w no benefits, min wage, unemployment insurance, sick pay, or adequate PPE—workers were at risk and taxpayers had to step in and pay for these benefits. It’s unfair, wrong and dangerous.

Earlier this year we held hearing, conducted survey of drivers—results showed exploitation, lack of PPE, dangerous conditions, brutally long hours, a lack of protection and benefits, little to no regulation, fueling economic inequality. Stand with @GigWorkersRise #NoOnProp22

I represent the HQs of @Uber and @lyft. I believe they can grow and thrive here. But they should follow the law. Period. All their employees, whether engineers or drivers, deserve worker’s compensation, unemployment benefits like all workers, not a 100 million dollar PR campaign.

I represent many Lyft and Uber workers—whether engineers, sales, HR, tech, or drivers—I stand with them and their rights to fair compensation, fair treatment, protection, and benefits. We aren’t against Lyft or Uber employees in any way, we are FOR them, ALL OF THEM. #NoOnProp22

They do provide what has become a critical, even essential service for so many residents, esp during pandemic. Millions of Californians rely on Uber/Lyft for deliveries, travel to work. Putting all of that at risk bc they don't want to follow the law is reckless and dangerous.

Californians rely on Uber/Lyft, as do drivers who rely on them for income. They should not shut down, and doing so is a cynical ploy to force people to vote their way on a ballot measure. It's a been a year--they can follow AB5 and have time to do so. #NoOnProp22

This is an attack on residents that have come to rely on Uber/Lyft, at one of the most vulnerable, dangerous, uncertain times in the history of our country, in the middle of a plague while cases are spiking across CA. Cutting off deliveries or transportation is completely wrong.

Public transportation in many places have had to reduce hours, lines, or capacity due to drastic losses of revenue. And many more vulnerable individuals may still not want to go out onto transit. I am working w @sfmta about how we are responding to this threat from Uber/Lyft

California has been paying hundreds of millions of dollars in benefits that these companies should be paying. Prop 22 is opposed by Gov Newsom, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, nearly every Democratic official in CA.

For everyone who is saying, “they shouldn’t be employees because they need flexibility.” It is actually entirely possible to have both. Be an employee, and have a flexible independent schedule, it happens.
