The reason you can’t solve the halting problem is fundamentally the same as why there aren’t any prophetic oracles. If you prophesy someone’s future, why can’t they just do the opposite? If a program predicts another will halt, can’t it find that out and run forever?

The paradox of thought-provoking writing: If your writing is intensely thought-provoking people will stop reading to contemplate the thoughts you have just given rise to. Both being very boring and very interesting are ways of losing attention.

Under-appreciated implication of the Baumol effect: The most effective way to get richer isn’t to become more productive. It’s to get the people around you to be more productive.

The feeling of preplexion transmutes into fascination once one realises how vague and ambiguous the idea of "thinking about something" is.

The disconnect between economic growth and knowledge/wealth growth is worthy of more attention. Money exchange has existed for centuries without any meaningful growth of wealth/knowledge and no switch was flipped in 1760s that suddenly made it all about that.
