A small point, and perhaps only marginally relevant, but just for the record: S&B is an old Japanese brand name intimately familiar to all natives of that country. And, sadly, if you want really good yuzukoshō, you'll probably have to bring it back with you from Japan.

That’s what my family did back in the day. Now in So Cal, there are several merchants that import larger selection of these products.

Yes, and of course in my neighborhood there is Nijiya, and Mitsuwa, and other suppliers with good connections to Japanese suppliers (like S&B.) But I think you'll agree that it's still not the same as what you'd get from your local izakaya. Not even close, alas.
