I was disappointed to learn that the musical Hamilton is about a politician. There should be a musical about William Rowan Hamilton. There would be a sad song called _Papa, can you multiply triplets?_, and of course a climactic scene at Brougham Bridge.
My god, the man's whole adult life was overwhelmed by a devastating and relentless remorse. He hesitated to speak his love when it would have meant everything to do so -- and so forfeited forever his only hope of happiness. It's a grim and tremendous tragedy, worthy of Ibsen.
