no one should pay $20 to watch emma until they've seen love and friendship
Thanks very much for this cautionary remark. I was unwilling to cough up $20 for this latest incarnation of EMMA, even though I love the novel, because, despite generally favorable reviews, and Bill Nighy, it somehow caused my spider sense to tingle. And not in a good way.

Yeah, always try to find the British mini series, though I haven't yet seen this one myself. It unfortunately lies in a computer that is trying to give up on the world. The 1995 Pride and Prejudice was quite good.

The BBC's 2009 EMMA is the one to go with, all right. It's impeccable. The alabaster perfection of Romola Garai's exquisite pre-Raphaelite beauty is simply overwhelming, and her big scene at the end, with Johnny Lee Miller's Mr Knightley, actually improves on Austen.

$20? Damn, the land of the free is expensive. Think the highest price in Canada is 15 colorful and increasingly discounted Canadian dollars.
