Writer's block is one of two things: 1) The fear that what you'll write won't be good enough, which doesn't matter since no one will see it until you're ready. 2) The fact that you sat down at the keyboard before you figured out what you want to write, in which case step away.

This certainly strikes me as sound. But I believe that #2 is much commoner than most people will admit. The challenges of plotting are in fact essentially mathematical, like solving a Sudoku -- and this is an undertaking from which many shrink, whether they acknowledge it or not.
