"When the problem is complex, you become tense, but when it is broken down into basic components, you can approach each element without stress." ~ Yo-Yo Ma (But there's an art to breaking a problem down into tiny pieces that look easy. It calls for both expertise and empathy.)
And the trouble is that expertise and empathy tend to be complementary variables, in the sense of Bohr and Heisenberg. The greater your expertise, the less your empathy. It is almost as though the product of the two magnitudes is some sort of absolute constant.
Breaking a problem into easy pieces is a great and subtle art, but the greatest art is to teach without seeming to. As Lao Tzu sagely observed: "A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves."
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea." Antoine de Saint-Exupery
