What are some perfect books? Not a messy fave, not a big sprawling flawed masterpiece - though I love those - but an absolutely perfect, neat, sparkler of a book that almost feels like a wondrous trick pulled off?

Oh, come on. Not nearly enough Wodehouse here. The specific request is for something absolutely perfect -- a neat sparkler of a book. That is just exactly what Wodehouse wrote, over and over. "Code of the Woosters" is brilliant, yes. But "Joy in the Morning" is the ne plus ultra.
