I love this little sidebar about multi-award-winning @maanow authors Bill Dunham, Dan Kalman, and Judith Grabiner in the most recent MAA FOCUS. Congrats to Bill Dunham, the latest grand slam recipient! http://bit.ly/2N7dPNe pic.twitter.com/RPCFIJNlKC

Whenever a curious high school-level math student asks for a book recommendation, I immediately suggest Dunham's "Journey Through Genius: The Great Theorems of Mathematics". Such a rich introduction to so many interesting ideas (and people)!

I read Journey Through Genius not long after it was published—when I was a sophomore in college—and I absolutely loved it! I wish I could go back and tell 19-year old me that I would later be friends with the author!

Sincere question (rooted in personal ignorance): is there another book that does both mathematics AND mathematical history/biography as well as "Journey Through Genius"? I'm still impressed by how well JTG does both, simultaneously.

It is a fantastic book, but there are many other great books about math and its history out there. Check out the @maanow and @PrincetonUPress books and books written by @stevenstrogatz for starters.
