What’s the best textbook you’ve ever read, in any subject?

Not sure whether this qualifies as a textbook, but perhaps the single most useful and illuminating book for any serious student of modern physics remains Max Born's ATOMIC PHYSICS. The appendices alone are worth the price of admission. Clear, pithy, deep. A true masterpiece.
