So wonderful to see so many idealistic young musicians down here in Cornwall. True, many of them are doing or have done competitions, because they feel they have to; but the great thing is that they’re all as committed to chamber music as to solo playing - as they should be!
The greatness of the chamber music literature is so compellingly obvious to any well-educated musician that to neglect it in favor of the solo literature (whatever one's instrument) is a mark of philistinism. To know it is to love it, and to love it is to yearn to play it.
