Q. How can we write politically w/o being propagandistic? Plot, character, point of view. Ex: Adulterous white couple dealing with divorce & cancer IS political. It just seems apolitical. But told from the POV of their undocumented housekeeper, it is explicitly political.

Ex. A Honduran family at the border, children separated from parents. Already political. But the politics are different if told from POV of child, parents, or border patrol. So choose plots, characters, and points of view where the politics will emerge naturally. BUT--

A writer of fiction who lacks strongly held beliefs probably also lacks the commitment needed to craft a skillful tale, and certainly lacks the means to move readers deeply. There is no sin in taking sides; the sin lies in denying that there are sides.
