Leaving aside for a moment the substance of the arguments and commenting only on the rhetoric & vocabulary through which the President of the United States today expressed himself: A nation of 320 millions has picked a gibbering, rambling mediocrity for its leader.

It might be more accurate to describe Trump's primitive rhetorical toolkit as a patois, or even as a pidgin. What impresses me most -- more than the impoverishment of its vocabulary -- is the chaotic manner in which Trump uses it. For even the speaker of a pidgin may be coherent.
