Today's music-at-gym experiment was less successful. The Rite of Spring didn't work very well after the first part. I tried Sibelius 5 but I forgot how calmly it starts. Tried Sibelius 2 but that didn't work after the first movement.

Tried Janacek Sinfonietta which was great but not after the opening fanfare part. Tried Brahms 2nd piano concerto but didn't like the vids I found (too slow). Tried Mahler 2 but I forgot it has a calm part even in the first movement. By then it was the end of my workout!

I'm amused by how many big pieces I think of as "intense and energetic" but they turn out to have huge calm parts inside them that I forgot about. I thought of Die Walküre Act 1 but Wagner would make me unable to maths afterwards. HMM.

Next I might try: Sibelius violin concerto, Shostakovich 7, Daphnis and Chloe, Verklärte Nacht, Britten Sea Interludes...

Scherzo of the Brahms 4th symphony, followed "Jupiter" from Holst's Planets, followed by the Saint-Saens "Egyptian" concerto?
