It looks like a great book - I hadn't seen it! It's exactly the sort of stuff I liked to read as a grad student: overviews of big problems in physics by the world's best physicists. It's a bit old, but that's fine: we know more about some of these things, but not all.

It's a superb book, and one with which I became intimately acquainted as an undergrad. I particularly recommend the first chapter on space and time; among its key treasures are the contributions of Trautman and of Ehlers -- both great modern masters of general relativity.
