When playing Beethoven, I often see an image of Beethoven laughing wildly , as described by his contemporaries. And I also remember times playing to my teacher, Jane Cowan, when she would just sit and laugh at the musical jokes. That taught me as much as any lesson she gave.

I propose this as conclusive evidence in support of the proposition that Beethoven was (and is) the undisputed champion of musical hilarity. Of course it helps (a lot) that the notes he wrote fall here beneath the hands of Richter. But those notes! http://bit.ly/2FIXBaZ
