This is because in real life one seldom encounters mathematical problems interesting enough to engender and sustain the thinking required to solve them. The great achievement of physics is to idealize the perceived world, so as to derive from it problems of this kind.

What marvelous news, and how enviable! You really must supply a few examples sometime, for the delectation of those of us who always find it necessary to augment the perceived world with a good deal of imagination and philosophy before it can be made to cough up such problems.
