Agreed. I have a lot of thoughts as to who to blame for the current predicament, but it’s ultimately a pointless question. If one asks who’s responsible for fixing it, then as the ones who know what math really is, it’s up to us mathematicians to lead this charge.

Replying to @TChihMath @mathpocalypse
Note, however, that no one wants to do it. Young mathematicians have no time -- they're struggling to establish themselves -- and old mathematicians become jaded and give up (or become armchair philosopher-curmudgeons.) It's nobody's job -- a classic tragedy of the commons.

You have started a company to address societal misconceptions about the nature and value of mathematics? Fascinating. What products does your company offer, who designs and manufactures them, and who buys them?

I am absolutely sincere, and I appreciate your efforts. I remain curious, however, to know which audience you are targeting. It is hard for me to see how the content at the site to which you refer can have any influence over (say) K-12 mathematics education.

I wish you every success in your enterprise, which, if it targets the correct businesses and adults, seems to me to have perfectly good prospects. Really difficult challenges arise, however, when targeting true (and often traumatized) naifs. Overcoming these may be impossible.
