Really interesting piece, highlighting how - despite the many additional challenges - new parents' experience of the lockdowns has not been universally bad. Ministers need to act *now* to capitalise on the positives.

It would be illogical, given the proven benefits of telemedicine, for and to revoke at-home abortion care. Agree with ? Email your MP and protect this vital service:

This week's shelving of the repeatedly promised Employment Bill means that long standing pledges to better protect workers will continue to gather dust. Well said,

On the urgent need to strengthen redundancy protection for pregnant women & new mothers, the response refers only to reforms (first promised in January 2017) that were to be in the Employment Bill. Yes, that's the Bill that Ministers left out of this week's 🤯

The Government's response to the February 2021 report on the gendered economic impact of the Covid19 pandemic - just published - is: five weeks late 🤷‍♀️ woefully inadequate ❌ deeply disappointing 🤦‍♀️

Great news that and others have started offering paid leave after miscarriage, but it's only part of the picture. Our director, , has been looking at what more can be done to support women and partners after pregnancy loss

Ministers also need to use the extra time provided by the shelving of the Employment Bill to work up a more effective & more equitable replacement for the chronically failing Shared Parental Leave scheme. As says, fathers need their own right to parental leave.

The delay in bringing forward the Employment Bill makes it all the more imperative that Ministers adopt, & speed into law, 's own Pregnancy & Maternity (Redundancy Protection) Bill. Women need stronger protection *now*, not in 2023. 2/3

Many thanks for noting in yesterday's debate that - despite the shelving of the repeatedly promised Employment Bill - there is an urgent need for legislative reform to address workplace issues highlighted by the pandemic. 1/3

As have stated, it is the most vulnerable women who struggle to access basic healthcare, often because of language, financial and logistical barriers. Protect at-home early medical abortion. Email your MP:

Ex-PMs frustrated by their job prospects should be encouraged to sit down with single mothers, young women on zero-hours contracts, women of colour and disabled women seeking work and promotions; carers and cleaners.. and tell them first what they did for their job prospects.

A staggering 63% of child deaths are in the first year of life, and those deaths showed a clear link with deprivation. It's only when we tackle deprivation that we'll reduce child deaths

The Government's response to the report was due on 9 April, so is now 5 weeks late. And this week's shelving of the promised Employment Bill begs the Q: how will Ministers now comply with the Committee's recommendation on strengthening redundancy protection?
