    Christopher Tolkien has died at the age of 95. The Tolkien Society sends its deepest condolences to Baillie, Simon, Adam, Rachel and the whole Tolkien family.

    I thought the coronation anniversary was a fitting day to put up my newly-framed copy (the original was by ) of a depiction of Blessed Karl during his exile in Madeira (the framing was done for me as a Christmas gift). I think it turned out very well!

    But, while I was consciously mimicking Tolkien's style, I made my drawing at least slightly different by depicting another part of the mountain: Whereas Tolkien drew the Front Gate, my picture shows the western dale with the hidden door higher up. I hope you like it. 🙂

    Today is the feast day of Blessed Emperor Karl of Austria. A great example of a husband, father, statesman and monarch. I chose him as one of my personal patron saints. I painted this picture in 2017, showing him during the days of his final exile on Madeira.

    My drawing based on a Númenorean tile design by J. R. R. Tolkien himself. I slightly changed the original design, simplified, but also expanded , to show how one tile might connect with others. Made for "pattern".
