I use SMA's they work very well.
If you feel EMA's work better for you to tune charting then go right ahead.

Here's my concern... SMA gave what one could argue false signals where as the EMA keeps you in the downtrend,Im sure the reverse happens too. Im always split as to which to use, been jumping back and forth with them

Well to start, if using spy turn off ext hours. The system isn't perfect but if you learn to use it and stop trying to find the perfect set of indicators it will make you alot money.
