What's interesting about the VIX in 2008 is that it Spiked in late 2008 then it came down hard. However the market didn't bottom until April 2009.
So you had the VIX and the market falling hard at the same time.

in 2008 it went under trendline and stayed under for 4 months or so
could be 2-3 months this time (time compressed due to inflation); but the structure could end up very similar
FBO then blast off
2018 is not even close /wrt $VIX
