System says buy dips. Sell take profits on every bounce until a break below 50 sma in future.

The system said to buy $SPY on 7/15 at $378. It's now at $398. Wouldn't it make sense to buy and hold as it moves up until the trend shifts rather than trying to time the dips and sell opportunities?
