I thought only a cross of 10/50sma was a buy signal using the system?

I believe the earlier sign is when the price closes above the 50 SMA, rather than waiting for the cross. Be watchful, but thar cross over is a good sign to buy long. The crossing of the SMAs is further confirmation.
