Why did the market capitulate into the close?
Because it’s a game/nothing to do with fundamentals.
Traders thought it was going to bounce before the close and they bet on that with options etc and when it became clear that wasn’t going to happen they all bailed and took the loss.

One tip I can share on trading is when you are wrong cut your loss quickly.
I was wrong thinking there could be short covering before the close.
But when I realized that was not going to happen I took a small loss like 15 minutes before the close before the market capitulated.
