Aren't they hiking rates as soon as March and in turn strengthening the dollar? Isn't a stronger dollar what makes commodities and materials cheaper? Isn't this planned series of rate hikes meant to curb inflation?

The Fed tends to broadcast what they're going to do beforehand to give the markets adequate time to adjust to capital being more expensive to finance. The market is currently baking-in the rate hikes before they occur. As a result, inflated stock valuations are coming back down.
