Unlike the NYSE which utilizes designated market makers, the Nasdaq utilizes many different market makers interacting throughout its “center execution system”. The electronic system utilizes software such as The SuperMontage. The system allows for fully anonymous trading.
Fully anonymous trading means that a trader/broker can place an order without other traders knowing about their identity. During the entire clearing and settlement process, the order remains anonymous. Nasdaq markets are considered over the counter (OTC)
You’ll see the same frauds on the Nasdaq capital markets as you do on the OTC pink sheet stocks. The Nasdaq has three tiers and the small caps trade on the bottom tier where manipulation is right out in the open.
