A few things happen.
1) Smart Traders take profits.
2) That stock to fall and stop losses get taken out.
3) Computers pick up on that and they Short.
Meanwhile new traders who got in premarket and were making 25% on the trade never took profits.

And what cause a Pump and Dump?
A stock spikes on Price and Volume.
