There's a computer program that's set to notice when the volume dies in a stock. That tells it there are no buyers left. So the program goes short and as it falls so does the stop losses causing a bigger drop.

THIS. This was always my presumption when comsidering all the players in the game. Conditionally speaking, let’s say volume does come in (which I’m sure is their goal), we see demand, then is the next step to dump regardless?
