If it's a small float stock/light volume. I usually don't keep a hard stop. Unfortunately that's a risk I have to take. Need to have confidence in the trade and watch it closely with a mental stop. When my mental stop gets hit in this situation. That price is sending me a signal.

I usually use market order stops if the stock is trading heavy volume even though I get hit with price slippage.
I don't like placing stop limits in case I get partially filled and then stuck with shares if the price falls lower fast.
