They buy it up yesterday.
They put out the word to pump the stock higher.
Say it's going to soar.
The public chases.
Industry sells/Then shorts.
News comes out and stock tanks.

So what role does the company play in this (when the industry knows this news early)? How do they get this news?

That's crazy. Cause I've been one to chase stocks in similar situations. Stock pumps for days, making a nice profit, than an offering comes out of no where and boom - profits erased + losses.
