What do you do when you lose your electricity and heat and it's below freezing and you don't want your pipes to freeze?

Either keep the water running which isn't perfect. Better off turning off the water shutoff and release pressure from the lines. Open a faucet in the highest level and lowest level to drain pipes. Also, hot water tank will need to be drained.
