For a new trader with an account less than $25,000. balance. I think a Cash account its better for day trading. Can't get restricted. Let's say you have $2000. You can made ten $100. day trades if you wish everyday.

I have a margin account with TD Ameritrade & my account value is over 26k. I have 0 margin balance but I’m still being held under pdt. Can you explain?

You may just be holding securities that have not settled the totals out. Happens on Etrade for me on my wife's account.
