I started out in late 1990's day trading and did well as everything was going higher even though I knew nothing.
Lost $ in 2000 drop as I only knew how to day trade long.
Lost $ in 2008 crash when market drop 20% in 2 weeks.
Learned my lesson for good.
Last year I did badly.

How long did it take you to become profitable at trading your own system? I miss out on a lot trying to find my own plays, hoping it pays off big soon. Do you usually wait until a little after market open to confirm trend?
