TRUE STORY. Commissions were so high years ago. You paid by the number of shares you bought. So in the late 1990's I bought 40,000 shares of a .50 stock and my commission was $378. to Buy and to Sell. How you going to make money back then with a $750. commission on a trade?

Yep, it made a lot of “salesmen” wealthy who didn’t make money for their clients.

It’s an awesome feeling to be able to trade in and out of a stock, make $100 or more and not have to pay commissions.
