4) Like after hours. Stocks will pop premarket on news. Flash boys have algo's set to find these stocks first. $JOB on Friday is a good example how their Algo's work. It's hard to find these bangers before the flash boys. But maybe try Trade Idea's, Seeking Alpha, Benzinga Yahoo

as a new trader I still don't see how the algos work and/or how they pop up on the radars to blow up these stocks. Any further insight is appreciated

I think look at the number of shares they buy and sell..usually very low
