Let's say for example, the Bid is

.75 and the Ask is

.80. Buyers are Buying

.799. Why don't they just Slap the Ask

.80? It's only one small Tic! Why don't they just take out the Ask so the pps will move up and force the Bids to move up, also.

Here's the funny thing. .01 on any stock even a $10.00 can man a lot. It could be a signal to another trading outfit. Maybe there sell orders ready to go at that price and they don't want to trigger? Could mean a lot of things. Maybe that's all a client wants to pay.
