the problem with the "emeritus" is that the power associated with the office of Bishop of Rome is no longer exclusively a religious power legally codified. This is why this kind of intervention constitutes an illegitimate form of pressure on the one pope

Infallibility is only convincing when you can pretend past popes would agree with the current one. It's awkward when a former pope is still around--especially when the one you like has his office by virtue of the abdication of the one you don't.

Clearly, nobody believes in infallibility and those who claim to do so are lying to themselves. There are now two popes wearing identical outfits with their own factions.

I'm an Anglican, so obviously a huge supporter of the value and even neccesity of married clergy, but there is also a unique value in the celibate life (especially monastic celibacy) that we are often missing in our Church.

Ratzinger wouldn't be writing in response to any opinion of the current pope (who is actually conservative and would never seriously consider a married priesthood). Ratzinger is writing to his German colleagues.
