Call your State Rep & State Senator, tell them to vote against H.3573/S.1401. It’s not in the spirit of public safety for MA to criminalize law enforcement (including ICE) from working together to find criminals. Call tell him to veto if it come to his desk.

While the Federal government has pushed for reforms to increase the prevailing wage rates, would that really make companies hire American workers over H-1B workers? Not necessarily. They love the indentured aspect of the H-1B—you can’t keep Americans indentured.

When the federal government gives the employer the ability to: 1. Not provide proof of hiring American workers first, 2. Legally pay an H-1B worker less than market wages, 3. Hold H-1B workers indentured, then it’s no surprise why the H-1B has become popular with Corporations.

Remember, the H-1B visa program is not just about “cheap” labor. It’s also about “compliant” labor—employers control the immigration status of a foreign worker. The H-1B program currently has no requirements for employers to prove they first tried hiring Americans.
