    **Final Update** Rt 90 Eastbound at the 129 MM in Boston. All vehicles removed, all lanes now open. Significant residual traffic backup remains on Rt 90 Eastbound to Lowell St. in Newton.

    This damage was inflicted by a piece of ice that flew off another car yesterday on Rt 93 south in Medford. Thankfully there were no serious injuries. Pls clean ice and snow off your vehicle, including not just the windows but also the roof, hood, trunk, bed, etc. to prevent this.

    : Troopers on scene I90 WB at Exit 117 in Natick where a pedestrian was fatally struck. Natick Fire and EMS are also on scene. has the left 2 lanes closed. More information to come, scene still under investigation.

    This number is most definitely low because reports are still being written and entered, but since 5 pm last night our Troopers have responded to well over 200 crashes with either injuries or property damage, including one fatality. Patrols were going from one crash to another.

    Our patrols have been responding to numerous crashes and spin outs caused by the flash freeze conditions. Stay off the roads if possible, and take it slow if not. Here’s an update from the road from Troop H Patrol Supervisor Sgt. Michael Murphy.

    CORRECTION - involved truck was a tractor-trailer, not a dump truck.

    Shortly before 6:30AM Troopers responded to a crash involving a dump truck and another vehicle, Rt 495 NB, Chelmsford.  Crash resulted in a fatality. Scene is now clear except for follow up investigation in breakdown lane. More info to be released later today.

    As noted, the coyote was not a threat to anyone and was left alone. Coyotes are prevalent and humans need to co-exist with them. Keep pets away from them, and trash cans closed so they are not drawn to the smell. Otherwise best course of action is to let them be.

    Today we laid to rest Trooper Robert Whittier (pictured), wearer of Badge 1 as the longest-serving active duty Trooper. He served this state and its people nobly for 47 years until his passing last week. God’s peace to you, Trooper. Rest easy now. We have the watch from here.
