I agree. Think it may be a carry over from debate about signs in NYC. Far better documentation of the signs in mid20th century England than in mid19th century US. Also shows have to keep teaching history over & over.

Certainly worth consulting this bibliography - as responses to your tweet attest notices saying ‘No Blacks, no Irish, no dogs’ were common. Racialization of the Irish has a centuries-long history. Those notices a specific manifestation at a particular time.

Remember Cressida Dick got a promotion after leading the operation that killed Jean Charles de Menezes, at least partly, because he was deemed to have "mongolian eyes" It seems very unlikely that she would resign over this.

I got a male friend to walk me home late one night. He sexually assaulted me when we got in. Women’s decisions aren’t the problem.

I’ve been followed home too many times to count. Once I had to hide in a bush for over an hour until two men gave up looking for me. I could hear them plotting explicitly what they were going to do to me and laughing. The solution starts with respecting women.

Irony: Pontins recently lobbied me to support its sites reopening, but would have banned me & my kids from staying there if they had. The list of surnames is ludicrous, but the intent behind it is no laughing matter. Nothing but the same old story, eh?

Today the UK have had 1820 deaths per million, the highest Covid19 death rate among G20 countries. The bereavements, UK debt and the economic pain of today's budget are all simply a consequence of public health failure. And we still fail to isolate cases and contacts.
