Not that anyone in Trump or Netanyahu land cares, but for the US to recognize Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights would be a direct contravention of UN Security Council Resolution 242, which the United States co-authored, and Israel accepted.https://www.axios.com/netanyahu-benny-gantz-trump-golan-heights-israel-election-fce81fd9-7290-4e1d-95fd-8330dac3a921.html …

Like it or not, the Golan Heights are Syrian territory. Israel cannot give them up now given its legitimate security concerns. But to recognize Israel’s annexation of territory that is not its own is to play with fire for partisan political purposes. No Arab state will accept it.

I’ll bet the Arab states accept it. Don’t remember the comments in Warsaw ?

One more reason to celebrate @Martin_Indyk irrelevance in decision making in middle East affairs. "Syrian territory" is the joke of the century especially given it's current state. Idiot.

Bullshit racist logic, Indyk, that once again puts the rights of Arabs, be they Palestinians, Syrians, or Lebanese, secondary to Israel's desire to steal land for an ethnosupremacist colonial state. Madness.

@jdgreenblatt45 - @Martin_Indyk seems to think the Golan Heights is Syrian territory? As far as Israel is concerned, it is part of Israel and Israeli law applies there. Maybe we should listen to @LindseyGrahamSC and acknowledge Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan.

Israel will never withdraw from the Golan heights and the prospect of withdrawal is discussed only on the fringes of the Left here. If you can accept Assad’s right to rule The Syrian Golan which he took by force from local Sunnis, why not Israel right?
